CLARET forms part of the internationally renowned School of Electronic Engineering within Bangor University’s College of Physical and Academic Sciences. The Centre benefits from the School’s strong research pedigree, which was saw its achievements ranked second in the UK for research in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

The need for CLARET

CLARET was formed to help meet the emerging lifetime and reliability testing needs of aspects of the electronics sector across Wales and the wider UK.  Its blend of class-leading equipment, facilities and academic expertise is unique and will support companies exploit new technologies, grow new markets and generate commercial and competitive advantage.

Mission and Vision

CLARET’s mission is to reduce development times and deliver better products.

We will achieve this by undertaking lifetime and reliability testing of opto-electronic and material technologies and provide tailored academic support to help develop a range of technologies considered of vital importance to the future growth of Wales and the United Kingdom.

Our vision is to develop the centre and its unique capabilities into a European Centre of Excellence in North Wales for lifetime and reliability analysis. This will provide a strong synergy with the UK’s existing centres for plastic / printed electronics, solar cell development and space research.
